Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant your Purple Pillar® in full sun (around 6 to 8 hours of sunlight daily), in an area with well-drained soil. Once you've selected your location, dig a hole large enough to accommodate your plant’s root ball.
If you're planting in a container, select a pot that's about twice the width of your plant’s shipped container. Using high quality soil, pot the plant and place it in an area where it will receive plenty of sun.
2. Watering: Plan to water your Purple Pillar® one to two times per week. If you're not sure when to water, check your plant’s soil about 2 or 3 inches down for dryness.
3. Fertilizing: You can fertilize this plant every spring with a general-purpose fertilizer.
4. Pruning: You only need to prune your Rose of Sharon if you want it to maintain a certain shape for hedges. You can also prune to control the size of your plant as taller plants will have smaller blooms.
